Bear Lake

This beautiful Naural beauty is Situated in the Sovata resort, Mures city, at an altitude of 502m, the bear Lake, also called ‘’ Ursu lake ‘’ in Romanian language, another name of the lake is the dead sea of Transylvania, it has an area of 40, 000 square meters, which is the world record for the Largest Helioterm Lake, according to the world Record Academy

Ursu lake is the only Heliothermal Lake in Europe.

The Phenomenon of heliometry means that a fresh water insulating layer forms on the surface of the lake which keeps the heat in the salt water, and, furthermore, prevents heat from the atmosphere. These phenomena were discovered around 1900.

The Lake is known treating Rheumatic, endocrinological and cardiovascular diseases. The Sludge from the bottom of the lake is used in many treatments!

It is the only natural lake to which the formation date is accurately known. Lake Ursu was formed following the collapse of a salt mining on 27 May 1877.

Important notice:

Bathing is allowed only ay certain hours of the day, in only one part of the lake.

Therefore, Tourists arriving at Lake bear allowed to take a bath before 10 am and after 18:00.
